Biggest Revelations From Britney Spears' Memoir
Britney Spears is breaking the ice on her relationship with Jamie Lynn Spears.
The "Lucky" singer details her complicated dynamic with the Zoey 101 alum in her memoir The Woman in Me. In her book, released Oct. 24, Britney, now 41, recalls reaching out to her younger sister, now 32, for support over the course of her 13-year conservatorship, but says a turning point in their relationship came in 2019 during what Britney calls an involuntary trip to rehab.
The "Circus" artist says she texted Jamie Lynn from the facility, asking for help, and in turn, the Nickelodeon star rebuffed her. "Stop fighting it," Britney says her sister wrote in a text back. "There's nothing you can do about it, so stop fighting it."
Needless to say, the response was upsetting for Britney, especially as she sought to remove her dad Jamie Spears from his role as conservator (a move that would come in September 2021).
"I didn't understand how Jamie Lynn and our father had developed such a good relationship," Britney writes. "She knew I was reaching out to her for help…I felt like she should have taken my side."

Instead, when the "Piece of Me" singer returned from the facility, she notes, Jamie Lynn pitched her on various projects to work on together, some of which included a joint talk show and sitcom. But their relationship was further complicated with the release of Jamie Lynn's 2022 book, Things I Should've Said.
"My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case," Britney—who has traded words with Jamie Lynn publicly—adds, "As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalizing on it. She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous. I was really let down."

However, the Crossroads star recognizes the familiarity of her younger sister's struggles and is wishing her the best moving forward.
"She will always be my sister, and I love her and her beautiful family," Britney writes. "I'm working to feel more compassion than anger toward her and toward everyone who I feel has wronged me. It's not easy."
